Maine!!!

This shall be the first post in a series about a recent trip to Maine...

Above you find the hostess in her kitchen :-) I went up to visit Anna, as I have been promising for about 5 years straight. I finally followed through!

For the first couple of days, I don't think I took any pictures, but on this particular day, the camera finally came out. This was taken on Sunday, May 20th.

On a previous trip to NC, Anna had purchased an item called Music Paper Bread (Carasau) which is an Italian Bread traditionally from the island of Sardinia. We used it to make a lasagna from a magazine of hers. In this photo, the filling is simmering on the stove (three kinds of pork - chopped, ground, and salami, plus tomatoes and other goodies). We also made a lamb broth for the purposes of soaking the bread and general flavoring and thinning of the main sauce. Then Anna took all of the components and layered them in turn in a bowl. Music Paper bread, filling, cheese(?), bread, filling, cheese, etc...

And then, it was served.

Tasty!!!

(let it be noted that the bread being sliced in the picture is NOT music paper bread - that was for a little appetizer...)
