le sejour en France...partie 1

Je voulais dire juste un petit peu pour mes amis que j'ai rencontré pendant mes études en France. Pour tout ceux qui peuvent lire en français(comme mes amis dans le photo, et tout(sp?) les autres), je m'excuse de ne pas avoir écrit plus en français à ce moment là. J'espère que vous tous allez bien. Vous me manquez vraiment beaucoup...(Armi, Elsa, Vincenzo, et tous...) [Shanti et moi habite dans la même apartement...donc, je la vois chaque jour...elle ne me manque pas ;-) ]

For those of you who don't read French, the people in this picture are friends I made while studying in Rennes, France last winter and spring. This was taken back in February of this year at the Mont St. Michel. Studying and living in France was indeed a life-changing experience for me, and it was a chance, an opportunity, and a dream that I will never ever regret pursuing.

I'm tired...well, sleepy too... Another excellent movie to be added to the growing list is the new pixar feature "the incredibles" :-) I took myself to see it this evening at the Grande, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would like to state for the record that while the Revenge of the Sith trailer was pretty nifty, I did actually go expressly to see "the incredibles" ;-) How can you not love a little boy who runs across water at superspeed and a superhero by the name of Elastigirl?!!?

At any rate, this morning was lovely as the loud thunking meant that I got packages - both from UPS and USPS!! A box from Anna with a set of asian prayer flags, and my Rebecca Clarke pieces already from Franck Music Company in NYC!!! (I only placed the order wednesday afternoon) I was so excited I called the guys at Franck's and gushingly thanked them :-) So...I spent a bit of time this evening with the Clarke pieces (including, for viola and piano : Morpheus, Passacaglia, two Lullabyes[sp?], Chinese Puzzle, and "I'll Bid My Heart Be Still")

to catch a thief

Alors, l'explication de texte était bien passé :-) Only one more presentation this semester and it won't be in French! My love for Hitchcock has been renewed - I returned from class, analysed the Bach Bb Major fugue in rainbow colors, and then settled in for a lovely couple of hours of "To Catch a Thief." Cary Grant was fabulous, as always, and my faith in Hitchcock was entirely restored :-) Now, off to bed go I before I turn into a pumpkin! (oh! If you have any interest in Hitchcock's films, I highly recommend "Notorious")

an interesting way to start... I guess I decided today that I would jump into the world of blogging like so many people I know. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I have anything to say, but hopefully my words will return home to me. bonjour tristesse (meaning hello sorrow/sadness in French) was written by Françoise Sagan. It's an interesting piece of existentialist french literature, and somewhat easier to read than anything by either Albert Camus or Jean-Paul Sartre... **until later**
