A community garden?

As I wandered around the park on Saturday evening, I discovered what appeared to be a very large garden. (This was at a park in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, MI for M & P's wedding rehearsal picnic) It turns out that this LARGE garden was in fact a community garden. So it seems that anyone can reserve a small plot in the garden and plant anything they wish...within reason.
Some gardens were filled with flowers, some with vegetables, and most were a somewhat balanced combination of both. It was fun and interesting to see the various people who had come over to the garden just around sunset to pick some produce/vegetables/herbs/flowers up for their evening meal. I seized the opportunity and the last bit of daylight to capture some of the beautiful garden sights.

The first photo up top is of a sunflower. It was a sunflower past its prime, very tall and bent over my head (so it was at least 6 feet tall). I gazed up into its center which was curved in and out in this lovely pattern. I'm reminded of the first time I learned about the fibonacci sequence from my mom. The patterns in the sunflower brought back some of those memories or pine cones, pineapples, and so many other mathematical patterns found in nature.

To the left here is a beautiful red flower. I'm not sure what it is called, but it has the shape of a daisy or a small sunflower. Perhaps it's a gerbera daisy? I don't know, but it was rustic and beautiful, and it brought perfect visions of walking in the countryside.

Finally, this evening star (?) caught my eye for the very obvious reason that it is an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. There were so many lovely, natural flowers to see that evening, but I tore myself away and ended up taking pictures of people :-)

It looks like there's a little lightbulb inside the morning glory.
